News: Loughborough is University of the year

On the 21st September 2008, the Sunday Times named Loughborough "University of the Year" in its University Guide.
Loughborough University has been shortlisted for this award three times in the last decade and has now won the top prize, just beating Imperial College. The Sunday Times made particular reference to the dynamic relationship between the University and the UK's leading employers.
In choosing Loughborough University, the Sunday Times also highlighted the following points:
- Loughborough are the current holders of the Times Higher Education awards for "Best Student Experience" and "Outstanding Support for Overseas Students"
- Loughborough finished joint second with Cambridge in the national student survey
- The results of the teaching quality assessments conducted since 1996 put Loughborough second only to Cambridge
- Loughborough graduates earn £2,000 more in their first jobs than the UK graduate average
- Loughborough has been awarded six Queen's Anniversary Prizes for higher education, a record equalled only by Oxford
